How does Google for Jobs work for job seekers?

Google for Jobs pulls listings from across the web, providing access to more than a million job postings. When you search for jobs using the Google job search tool, it will automatically display a preview of available job openings in your immediate area, each of which can be expanded to view full posting details.

You also have the option to further refine results by choosing from a list of different filters, including: job level, experience, title, full- or part-time, industry, and date the job was posted.

How can I get my jobs on Google for Jobs?

Since Google for Jobs is an enhanced search engine, as opposed to a job board, there’s no way to post jobs there directly. Instead, the search engine features jobs that are already published. You can make sure your jobs are optimized for Google for Jobs by either posting your job to the Free Boards option in your account or to one of the following partner job boards: LinkedIn, Careerbuilder, and Snagajob, all of which are also partnered with us.

Google for Jobs syndication will be included whenever you post to any of the listed job boards or select the Free Boards option.

There are several benefits to using the Google for Jobs feature, including:

  • Increases exposure for your job listings at no additional cost
  • Allows more applicants to apply to listings through the refined search and filter options
  • Displays prominent information such as your job details, reviews, ratings, etc., all through your search results

Ensure your job is active and unhidden. Hidden jobs, inactive jobs or jobs with syndication disabled will not be posted to Google for Jobs. Note: If your job posting is active and unhidden and you’ve already posted it to the Free Boards option, it will already be optimized for Google for Jobs, so no further action is needed.
